Hello World

So, there I was…
Contemplating the mission creep of the modern educational bureaucratic complex, when I was struck with the desire to learn web development.
After two years of teaching elementary and middle school in South Korea and three more stateside, I wanted to shuffle off the mortar board of adolescent pedagogy, enlist in a web dev bootcamp, and stake my claim as a newly-minted code commando.
…the industry’s landscape has been terraformed…
So, I did.
Nine years later, and I’m still at it. But the industry’s landscape has been terraformed from the untilled, rocky soil of homemade, artisanal programming languages (e.g. PHP) of the 1990s into a bulldozed plateau of boxy AI datacenters contending with chip shortages. Nevertheless, these “compute clusters” have shown that the previously un-automatable can now be entrusted to the invisible hand of an “agent” with minimal human oversight.
The silicon has yet to settle and reveal the shape of the new technological economy—which leaves much to watch and discuss. However, I’ll save those thoughts for my dedicated tech blog CodeAndKeyboard.
This site will focus more on the whys and wherefores of matters important to me as a holistic self. That is, I will, for example, tell you about my anti-phishing browser extension on the OverPhish website, but I will tell you why I built it on this site.
In the meantime, hello, World! And welcome!
